Veterans and New Faces Elected to Tehy Council

The council elections of the trade union for social, healthcare and education sector, Tehy, were held from 17 March to 31 March 2025. A total of 410 candidates ran, and 83 were elected to the Council for the 2025–2029 term. The electoral district included the entire country. In the elections, 21,7 % of Tehy members exercised their right to vote.

Tehy's council elections were held as an electronic vote, in which Tehy members voted through Tehy's mobile application.

– We gained both experienced and new decision-makers. This provides a solid foundation for making decisions, says Tehy's Organization Director Sari Viinikainen.

The Council makes decisions regarding the advocacy of Tehy members, approves collective agreements, decides on matters such as industrial action and determines the strategic direction of the union's activities.

Tehy Council's organising meeting will be held on 4–5 June. During the meeting, a chairperson, vice-chairpersons and a board will be elected for Tehy, as well as the chairperson and vice-chairpersons for the Council.

There are two candidates for chairperson. In addition to the current chairperson, Millariikka Rytkönen, Kim Yli-Pelkola is also running (in Finnish) for the position.

More information about the election results in Finnish at the end of the press release.
